The contract was to create a lead poster for an event organized in partnership with the SDC St-Roch and the Carnaval de Québec, a winter event that attracts many visitors to Quebec City. The event organized by the SDC targets adults between 18 and 35 years old who live in downtown Quebec City (younger crowd, hipster area, lots of pubs and show venues around).

The final concept features the St-Roch church, which is a landmark of the suburb and is located on the same street as the bars that host the activities. The idea was also to make the design fun and attractive, while maintaining a bit of the “dark side” of St-Roch.

I used a collage process because it offered a messy and edgy style reflecting the vibe of the area. Each element of the collage represents one of the different activities. Plus, collage is a great process to reproduce in other media formats in the future, as the client had asked. The colours were inspired by the 2020 edition of the Quebec Winter Carnival – the cold colours remind us of the winter aspect of the event.
